Sliding Block Hardware Kit

Sliding block hardware kits are useful for gates on slopes, uneven ground, or where overhead protrusions (like vertical cladding or spears) are present. They allow the gate to maintain its position by guiding its movement along a track and adjusting to uneven ground.

As the gate slides, the sliding block (guide block) moves up and down within the C-channel, compensating for any unevenness or slope in the ground. This prevents the gate from getting stuck or bouncing while sliding.

Our Sliding Block Hardware Kit includes:

1. Sliding Block (Guide Block)

Typically made of nylon or PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) for smooth, low-friction movement. It slides within the C-channel and the rear guide channel on the back of the gate, allowing vertical movement as the gate travels.

2. Channel (300mm)

A U-shaped or C-shaped structure (aluminium or steel) that provides a track for the guide block. Usually mounted to a support post or bracket (optional add-on).

3. Catcher (50mm or we can provide a custom size to suit your gate)

The “F” shape allows the gate to slide past the post and be securely locked in place, providing flexibility for different gate configurations.

4. Aluminium Track

Fixed to the ground to allow the wheels to glide smoothly along the surface.

5. Wheels

Attached to the underside of the gate to enable smooth horizontal movement.

Optional Support Post or Overhead Bracket

Provides stability and keeps the channel aligned as the gate moves. Can be fixed to a fence or wall.

Are there other hardware kits available?

Some customers prefer a Guide Rollers Hardware Kit, which is suitable only for framed gates on level ground. It does not require a support post or overhead bracket, unlike the sliding block system.
